The Founders

Charmed by the allure and historical significance of industrial heritage, Nina and Pierre settle into the Chocolate Factory and decide to create a space where creativity engages with architecture. Passionate about contemporary art, they open the doors of LOFT.008 to artists and art enthusiasts.

Seasonal exhibitions highlight local and international artists, offering a unique space for expression. Mindful of preserving the intimacy of the venue, they integrate art into the environment; each exhibition is designed with special attention to the local community.

The Chocolate Factory

Exceptional for its Art Deco industrial architecture and reinforced concrete construction.
The Rosmeulen Factory was a first of its kind in Belgium at that time. Located at 276 Neremstraat in Nerem, the Chocolate Factory was founded in 1911. After a difficult period in the 1930s (the Great Depression), bankruptcy was declared in 1934. The building has since housed troops during the Second World War, a loom manufacturer, and a tin factory. Measuring 170 meters in length and built with red bricks, the chocolate factory is recognizable by its majestic entrance: a large horseshoe-shaped arch with a huge rose window and two-tone stained glass. Today, the ‘Chocolate Factory’ has been renovated and transformed into lofts.
